DIIV recorded Deceiver in March 2019 in Los Angeles with producer Sonny Diperri. Zachary Cole Smith, the band’s lead vocalist and guitarist, mentioned “Pores and skin Recreation” in a press release:
It’s an imaginary dialogue between two characters, which may both
be myself or individuals I do know. I spent six months in a number of totally different
rehab services in the beginning of 2017. I used to be dwelling with different
