Common cancels the discharge of The Hunt following criticism from Trump
Common has canceled the discharge of its controversial horror satire The Hunt.
The Blumhouse manufacturing, directed by Craig Zobel, co-written by Damon Lindelof, and starring Ike Barinholtz, Betty Gilpin, Emma Roberts, and Hilary Swan, depicts a gaggle of rich elites searching lower-class “deplorables”.
“Whereas Common Photos had already paused the advertising marketing campaign for The Hunt, after considerate consideration, the studio has determined to cancel our plans to launch the movie, ” a spokesperson for Common mentioned in an announcement. “We stand by our filmmakers and can proceed to distribute movies in partnership with daring and visionary creators, like these related to this satirical social thriller, however we perceive that now is just not the best time to launch this movie.”
The Hunt has been closely criticized by conservatives, together with Donald Trump. Yesterday, Trump cited the movie for example of Hollywood’s “racism.” “What they’re doing with the type of films they’re placing out, it’s really very harmful for our nation. What Hollywood is doing is an amazing disservice to our nation,” Trump advised reporters throughout a press gaggle.
In a follow-up tweet, Trump added, “Liberal Hollywood is Racist on the highest degree, and with nice Anger and Hate! They prefer to name themselves ‘Elite,’ however they aren’t Elite. In truth, it’s usually the those who they so strongly oppose which are really the Elite. The film popping out is made so as…. to inflame and trigger chaos. They create their very own violence, after which attempt to blame others. They’re the true Racists, and are very dangerous for our Nation!”
